Countdown to Spring Break :4

Today is a beautiful day here in lovely Maryland and I am looking forward to the end of said day.  I am trying to show only my most gracious self to the world but there are little slips here and there.  Today my boss asked me to do something for her at the very last minute and was talking over me when I had questions.  I was slightly enraged.  What I find is, by not ever expressing my various angers and disgruntledness I become a full teapot, ready to spout off at the tiniest thing.

Perhaps I need a room with nerf/foam tools for bludgeoning mannikens that I have named after my co-workers

COUNTDOWN.......

Countdown to Spring Break!  5

I work in a private school which automatically makes me hipper in my mind than most middle age women.  Forget that I have trouble with word retrieval, forget that I pause in the hallways to reflect on my destination; (where am I going?), I still am ahead on the slap bracelet watch trend (not).  These are the important things!  How many more scarves will I buy before the trend is over?  It’s a fine line.

Anyhoo, the school year has cycles.  We approach the time in the year where all teachers look up from their slogging winter pace and suddenly realize that there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Maybe little Susie still has not mastered her locker combination but wouldn’t it be nice to have advisory outside today?  Perhaps the science volcano project ended up clogging the science dept. sinks and practically evacuated the school with the stench of feces/sulpheric acid, when it was really only clay and vinegar-who really cares?  It is Friday afternoon and younger faculty look forward to trips to the beach while older, wizened crones like I surf the internet for throw pillows and lie abed until 8 am!!!!!

I will be spending my spring break getting ready for family coming at Easter.  I have curtains to buy dammit.  I will be spending some quality time with my new ronco shark steam cleaning machine working on the layers and layers of hairspray gummily adhered to my bathroom floor.  Perhaps I will re-grout said bathroom with whiteout.  What will you be doing?  Will you get in your car and take a road trip?  You do get spring break don’t you?

ITS BEEN A YEAR

Well, it's been a year practically since I wrote here.  I imagine that you have all grown tremendously-in your work and happiness.  I, on the other hand, have slowed.  Grown in girth as always but not so much professionally.  My full time job is chugging along with lots of crazy personnel changes.  All the employees sit around and wonder, "what the *&6$ will happen next?  And will it create more work for me?!"

Highlights of this year?  Hmm, my son got married in September and that was a wonderful event.  Really a beautiful wedding.  One down 3 to go.  One of our sweet dogs died on Christmas day.  Twinky.  We miss that old bag of fur.  That is about all I can think of.

Are you all on Pinterest yet?  If not I highly suggest you go see.  I love to look at all the home interiors and fashion and jewelry and purses and, and, just go check it out.

Mondays make me mean

This time of year I hate going in on Mondays.  Pretty soon though it will be summer and time for home and jewelry making frenzies.  If I can only hang in there for a few more weeks...

garden work

or how I spent my mother's day

my dog bisby has dug holes all over our property.  This bed was a sandbox when my kids were little but has been a flower bed for years now.  After bisby was through here is what it looked like:

filled with holes and an ugly mess So I dug it up, saving the couple of plants that were left and replanted the whole thing.  I have in here flag iris, nepeta 6 hills giant, trailing verbena homestead purple, asters, geranium johnson's blue and some japanese iris.  It will look better in a week or two.

I also rounded up some poison ivy, planted impatiens and did some weeding.  Gotta love these beautiful days.  Tonight we will have monster steaks on the grill and salad and taters.  Super day!

Happy Mother's Day

I sure do miss my mom today.  She is with me in the garden.  My choice of activites today and I chose:

                                                Plant Nursery shopping!

Heading out in the car to try and find a very good nursery that I visited years ago with my old friend Frances.  Hope I can recreate the road to the place.  Can't find it online...should be a good day for it anyway.  Remember that it is the journey not the destination.  Then home to get dirty.

Happy Mother's day to you all.

Spring Break, and the living is easy

Hello Friends,

Do you want to know what I've been doing so far over my spring break?  I don't really care if you want to know, I NEED to tell you.  Because it's all about me.  My blog, my project, my spring break!  So obnoxious.  Anyway, I've been trying to transform the old summer kitchen/mudroom/computer room into a work space for my little jewelry hobby.  The dining room just looks horrible with crap supplies everywhere.
So this room was the most junked up in the whole house.  All the bookcases were double stacked with books.  I painted the room this yellow, cleaned the whole thing out, rearranged the space, hung curtains-(too high I might add) and started bringing the stuff in from the other room.  I've been singing along to Marvin Gaye there's nothing wrong with me loving you! And, giving yourself to me, can never be wrong, if the love is true....

I hope you approve.  Kudos to daughter Emily and big Richard for all their help and stick-to- it -edness
