"the time has come" the walrus said" to talk of many thing"s

perhaps the walrus would be so good as to discuss crest white strips with me.  I have them in right now!  They seem to create a good bit of spittle in my mouth.  I have this new friend from Greensboro, NC who I met at the beach.  Here name is Judy.  Judy, are you having trouble remembering to do the white strips every day?  I'll check my comments later and see if she answers.  The beach ladies vowed to do white strips at the beach and to continue at home...

Anyway, they def work but I hate the 30 minutes that they are in because of the excess spit.  Me thinks I need a spitoon.  Ahoy matey.  Argh and yee gads today seems to have a pirate theme.  Mayhaps one needs a bit of Captain Morgan in me.  As if.  that. would help.

Spot light on; Peaces of Indigo

Hi all.  Just wanted to thank Peaces of Indigo for the beautiful earrings that I won in a blog contest sponsored by the JET team on etsy.  They are so unique and funky too.  They will be my go to earrings over the 4th as my family gathers in upstate NY for our annual reunion!

Peaces of Indigo is owned by Dawanda Young, a stay at home working mom of three young boys.  Dawanda creates all of her peices herself using precious metal clay and she purchases all organic hand-cut beads for her work.  She likes to handwrite inspirational words or scripture on her handmade medallions which are also decorated on the other side.  Peaces of Indigo uses only recycled silver products in her work.

This creative artist also donates a portion of her profits to Blood: Water Mission an organization ensuring clean drinking water to all parts of the world.

I am completely Vajazzeled

Not really.  But just this morning I have read 2 blogs where vajazzling was mentioned.  I guess the bejewelled vag is sweeping the nation!

Here is the link:  http://www.vajazzling.com/

The official web site of the vaggie sparkly trend...so, would you do it?  Have you done it?  Did your "special other" person laugh?  Honestly, I think Rich would laugh.  Also what happens when I take a bath?  Do all the swarovski crystals float away?

And then, after they come unglued can I use them in my jewelry making?  gahhhhhh I love to push the envelope, know what I mean vern?  Now who will want to buy my jewelry...

Lisa Peters ART

Yesterday I attended the Best Bead Show over here at the Timonium fairgrounds outside Baltimore.  The show was ok but I have to tell you, I was really taken with one of the vendors-a fellow ETSIAN.

The vendor was Lisa Peters of Lisa Peters ART and she had some really beautiful artisian made beads for sale.  Her display was awesome.  She sells Ceramic buttons, beads, cabochons and pendants.  The colors are really saturated and rich looking.  All of her offering are handmade and one of a kind!

She was very encouraging and helpful to me.  She does shows all over the country but she said the majority of her shows are in PA.  Listening to her talk about taxes and other paperwork related topics I was struck that someone could have such a strong artistic sense and also be a good businesswoman.  It's a rare combination if you ask me!

Take a peek at my pictures below.  The lighting is a little yellow from the indoor lights but I hope you can get an idea of the high quality of her beads.  I can't wait to make some necklaces...I'm thinking leather and beads.

Check out her shop and give her some hearts.  She deserves every success!

home again, home again, jiggitty, jog

Oh my goodness!  It feels just right to be home again.  I finished and listed the twisted necklace that I made at the beach.  See above.

To finish up the beach, we had a couple of big thunderstorms although it is bone dry here in the northern Baltimore County area.  On the way home, there was an accident on 50 so we had to take the old ocean city highway for awhile.  We got off and had some Mexican food which was pretty good.  Loved their artwork:

very dramatic.

So today I went to the Cohen's Sidewalk sale and the Best Bead Show.

More news from "down the Ocean".  The temps yesterday were in the mid 90s and despite staying under the umbrella supplied by Mr Layton the beach rental God, I managed to get some color.  The water was heavenly although I can't convince my lady friends to join me.  I saw a stingray jump up and out of the surf right nearby which discouraged the squeamish others.

One of the highlights of the day was a trash bin rescue by by one the hunky lifeguards!

In the evening we took the bus to the boardwalk where I saw this interesting religious sand art.  The signs made me think of the outsider art of the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore.

Someone said that the sand images had been shellacked because they have been there a long time...It was an amazing juxtaposition to the revellers we saw walking by on the boardwalk.

Today it looks to be over 100 degrees and I plan to wait until after 2pm to get out there.  I am very fair skinned and delicate!  Hahahahahahah  My fat sucker suit is doing me proud so that is a positive.

Dear Richard,  Miss you honey!

Ocean City Hon!

The water is as calm as a lake!

Hey there.  I am enjoying the sun and surf but always thinking of you-my loyal followers.  So far it's been hot and sunny.  I rented a nice umbrella and chair from Layton's beach hut...they come and set it up for you and take it away at 5:30 to let you know that the cocktail hour has begun.  Tonight I am cooking and we are having local shrimp w/cocktail sauce, spinach salad, corn on the cob and salmon steaks.  Ummm beach food.

I took some pics on the beach today which I hope you will enjoy!

This woman appeared to have a roll of paper towels handily tucked away between her breasts!  How convenient!  They stayed with her as she went wading.

packing my bikini

jk.  More like packing my spandex head-to-toe fat sucker that pretends to be a swim suit.

Off to the ocean hon!  We Baltimorons like to head out to Ocean City, Maryland for some rays and relaxation.  I'm staying at my friend Donna's brother's condo on 110th street.  Should be a hoot.  I am looking forward to sharing many moments with you assuming I can snag a wireless signal from the condo and whatnot.  Also, i am taking some jewelry making *hit (technical term) with me.   Maybe I will be inspired by the sound of the waves crashing against the surf.  Maybe I will be inspired by teenagers there for "senior week" vomiting in the alley behind the condo.  Maybe I will find buried treasure!  Lose 5 pounds!  Win the lottery!  Get a tan (highly unlikely as I am somewhat albino)!  Spit on someone from the balcony!

This is what I like about the future.  It could happen.

The King

Today was father's day and we celebrated by paying homage to Richard, our very own daddy of the family.  Mr. Plantress has a new shirt, a really cool vineyard vines tshirt and a new grateful dead baseball hat.  He treated himself to a summer hair cut, went to the gunpowder river for an afternoon of lounging next to the frigid waters, had steak and corn on the cob for dinner and ice cream for dessert.  What more could a man want?  Hmm.  I'll let you know!

This is also a day to honor my own Father William.  Love you lots.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

I'm popping in to say hello.  I have been outside in that hellhole I jokingly call a yard pulling vines down off trees and windows.  Hacking back dock and pokeberry "trees".pulling up thistle and probably poison ivy.  I am drenched in sweat.  There are piles everywhere!

With that image, I will take my leave.  Perhaps a shower and some lemonade

lets not forget Pinkkiss Pottery!

This is the last one, well, maybe it's the last one.  Shawna Pincus was the very first booth that I wanted to go into when I got to the Gunpowder River fest lo those many days ago-almost a week-(I have really gotten some blog mileage out of this single festival have I not?!)  She had bunting!  That was colorful and sweet!  As was she!  She had the cheeriest booth there.  I loved her clothing and her pottery.  Here are the pictures I took:

I wish my pictures were a little more detailed.  You can't really see the bunting.
Here is what I stole from Shawna's Bio:
. I have a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art as well as a post-bac teaching certificate from Towson University. I work out of my home studio. I am interested in making beautiful things that serve multiple purposes, are easy to care for and are affordable to people like me! I am inspired by textiles, nature, vintage kitchen products, home design and fashion. I strive to make housewares that express an individual personality. There is nothing more satisfying then drinking from a cup that was made by human hands. I have people tell me that they will wash their favorite mug after every use just so that it's clean for the next time, even though they have a cabinet full of clean commercially made dishes!I hope I can be the maker of your next favorite mug!

I like this bowl very much......
